An 'Urban Fairytale' this tells the story of two young schoolboys falling in love on the grim South-East London slum setting. The gaucheness, the rush of excitement and terror and the inarticulate tenderness of young love are beautifully captured in writing of truth and delicacy. Truly a most unusual and beautiful thing.

Founded in early 2001, Nicu’s Spoon is dedicated to producing socially reflective theatre that presents new ideas, challenges stereotypes, and touches the heart in an unexpected way. Tim Romero is a proud member of Nicu's Spoon Theater Company and of Actors Equity. He was last seen at the Spoon in "Tibet Does Not Exist Anymore" and was with them off-off and then Off Broadway in 2008’s ‘Elizabeth Rex’. Michael Abourizk is thrilled to be back with the Spoon after appearing in their production of 'W;t' (ensemble, u/s Jason), as well as in 'Beautiful Thing'. Michael created the role of "Shay" in the world premiere of Butch Mamas! and recently put his bilingualism to use playing a French-speaking "Madame" in Jean Genet's The Maids, both at the WOW Cafe Theater. Other New York theatre credits include Hamlet (Hamlet), The Eight Reindeer Monologues (Cupid), Save My Brother (the Palestinian), The First Cigarette at the Provincetown Playhouse, Rumplestiltskin (King), and Kafka Parables (Franz Kafka). He is a Milo Award-winner for the Park Road Playhouse's The Lion in Winter in which he portrayed "John." He is a graduate of New York University. Eternal thanks to Michelle, Stephanie, and Phillip; and thank you Mom & Dad for being the beautiful things in my life.

A founding member of Nicu’s Spoon, Julie was seen off-Broadway in King Lear (with Ralph Waite,) as the title role in an all female production of Macbeth, and in her one woman show, Legacies. For Nicu’s Spoon she played Mayella in To Kill a Mockingbird, as well as a Bosnian refugee and an Arabic girl under full burka for Displaced. She performed regionally @ Bailiwick Repertory in Chicago and Seattle Children’s Theater (Linda Hartzell, director.) Film work includes Sour Times, Odessa Sleeps, and Counting Bottlecaps. Television-As the World Turns. Her voice is heard on numerous industrials and commercial spots. She returns to the stage after taking time off to have her three magical children with her husband, Drew. We gladly welcome her back to play a major role in Beautiful Thing. Julie is a graduate of Holy Cross College and The University of Washington Professional Actor Training Program. |

Trip Langley is excited to make his Spoon Theater debut telling such a beautiful story. He is a graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he trained with the Tony award-winning Atlantic Theater Company and Trinity College in Dublin. Favorite roles include Ellard in Shue's "The Foreigner," J.B. in Iizuka's "Language Of Angels," Jabber/Chilli/Hester in Parks' "In The Blood," and Matt in Bond's "The Children."
